How To Use This Staten Island Mall Directory Map

For anyone that wants to find a separate store, there is a useful search box, simply type the name and it appears immediately. You can also browse according to categories, what works well, especially for getting a general idea about everything what the mall offers.

Hover the mouse above the chart and use the scroll wheel. There are also buttons for zoom in and out, plus the option to go full screen for a much more clear sight.

You can click the level labels to switch between floors, there are two levels which I marked as Level 1 and Level 2 in this map. If you tap the pin of some store, details appear about that store. Overall, that is a useful way to plan a trip and get an overview of the place without even entering the building.

Staten Island Mall Directory Map

The Staten Island Mall sits directly at Richmond Avenue in the neighbourhood New Springville. It is the biggest retail centre on the island, what is quite an important reason for locals that want to shop locally.

Inside there is a variety of stores, with a solid choice of places to get something to eat. One of the main anchor stores that attracts folks to the mall is Macy’s. The mall originally opened its doors back in the early seventies, so by mall standards it already is a bit old.

Since then a lot changed, and the place carries a real feeling of nostalgia for folks in the region. Old directories show that once it carried a whole set of shoe shops and even a discount store, if you can believe that. There was also the Honeycomb; a place that still appears in conversation even today.

In that area were all kinds of weird little shops, among them a magic store. The Honeycomb closed a long time ago, but it left a lasting impression on many that grew up on Staten Island.

Once the mall went through expansion. Nearby a parking garage was built together with a sequence of new spaces for stores. That new wing ultimately carried some restaurants and several popular retail chains.

The garage and the added stores fit well. The newer parts of the mall feel fresher and more polished. The so called Food District is basically the big food hub of the mall.

Popular chains like Shake Shack and Chick-fil-A are hear, what naturally draws huge crowds. About the food, the choices are quite solid.

However the whole area commonly becomes full, a lot of children run around, the noise almost through the roof, and during peak hours it can feel a bit mad. The parking garage and private parking lot at the mall make it useful, and the bike parking is a pleasant extra. There are no steps or staircases anywhere, so the whole space is fully wheelchair accessible, a thing that matters.

Here is the place where the Wu-Tang Clan first came together, and through the years it served as a film spot for a crowd of films and TV series. And about the mall? It plays a big role in the everyday life here.

With hundreds of special stores that cover everything from fashion to home products, when it comes to shopping on Staten Island, almost nothing else compares.

Some downsides are still worth a mention. The escalators break down more commonly than they should, in this spot that already almost became an inside joke. Charging stations for phones are few and far apart, and even those do not always work.

Up in the parking garage, on one of the higher levels, there is sometimes a problem with people standing around and smoking.

None of those is a big deal, but having prior warning before going over there does not hurt. However the mall still does its job. People of Staten Island have a real shopping place directly on the island.

And if you are only passing through the area, it is a useful place to quickly enter. Recent additions also brought a bit of new life to the place, bringing brands that folks want to look at.

Sitting directly in Fond Village, the mall does not lack in things to do in the area. What starts as a fast shopping trip can easily become a full day out.

The directory chart reflects what was present at the time of creation, although store spaces can change now and then. Updates are done when changes happen, so the plan stays as precise as possible.
